Citywide Health’s  2024/25 flu vaccination service will be operating across York from 3rd October 2024 from our 7 pharmacies and 3 external sites. The FREE NHS service is open to all patients over 65 years of age, or anyone over 18 in a specific health group. All eligible patients can access a flu vaccination, irrespective of which GP surgery they are registered with, or which pharmacy they normally use.

The NHS will also be running a booking system which goes live on 23rd September via this NHS BOOKING LINK

You will be able to book a both a flu and Covid vaccination via the NHS website, to gain an appointment at one of our pharmacies, as well as the following large volume clinics at

Wigginton Recreation Hall (Oct 6,7,9,13,14,21,23 and 27th)

New Earswick Surgery (Oct 3,5,8,11,15,17,20 and 22nd)

St Lawrence Church Hall (Oct 4,12,18, 19 and 25th)

There will be plenty of flu vaccines of appointments available for everyone, so there’s no need to travel far to get your flu jab. If you don’t want to wait until 22nd September when the NHS booking system opens, you can also book a flu appointment at the bottom of this page via Citywide Health’s booking system. This is live now and you are able to book at appointment for one of our pharmacies. Booking an appointment will help us manage the flu vaccination workload alongside our current pharmacy services.

The free NHS flu vaccine is given to people who:

  •  are 65 and over (including those turning 65 by 31 March 2024)
  •  are 18 – 64 with specific health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, chronic heart or kidney disease)
  •  are pregnant
  • are in a long-stay residential care
  • receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick

Unlike previous years, the free NHS service is not available to those aged 50 – 64 who are healthy and not in the risk groups mentioned above – these patients can still chose to access a private vaccination.

We also operate a PRIVATE FLU VACCINATION SERVICE for those who do not qualify for a free NHS flu vaccination. This is available to anyone over the age of 6 month and can be booked at any of our pharmacies, again using the links below.

I want to say how impressed I’ve been today with the service I’ve had at Haxby Pharmacy. I called in this morning for advice as I’ve just become unwell and I’m leaving first thing tomorrow on a trip to Lebanon. The pharmacist helped me to arrange an appointment with the local GP, as she suspected I needed antibiotics. I was able to pick up a prescription at the same pharmacy by no later than 3pm that day. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and helpful and a credit to the pharmacy.

The pharmacist not only gave us reassuring advice, but told us how to treat it with the dressings she gave us by doing the first one for us. A week later, at another visit, she told us and showed us how to carry on with the care, saying how well it was doing. Care and advice like this would be almost impossible to obtain at the moment. We are very lucky to have such a friendly, expert pharmacist, willing to help so readily in our village. All the staff are helpful and friendly too.

I cannot thank Huntington Pharmacy enough for their excellent service. They managed to source some emergency supplies of tablets for my mum, which have been discontinued for the next three months. Without these tablets, my parents wouldn’t have been able to travel on their holiday and my mum would have been very poorly.
